Great news!  When I attended and spoke at the Microsoft SOA & Business Process Conference I was informed that they were recording all sessions to be included in a DVD of the event which would be sent out to those who had attended.  Great, wonderful, but not a lot of use to my blog readers.  Well shortly there after I received a request from the TechNet team to include my presentation as part of the "Best Of" from event online.  I happily agreed, and am happy to report that the best of the Microsoft SOA & Business Process Conference can now be found on TechNet, and that my presentation on Building HIPAA solutions with BizTalk Server 2006 R2 is amongst them.  Incidentally apparently I received a 5 of 5 rating during the conference, I thank the attendees for being so easy on me.

This talk is actually very relevant to anyone interested in EDI for BizTalk Server 2006 R2 as the HIPAA specific pieces are few.  It is a good introductory talk, it is not a deep internals talk but it does cover the configuration and setup of EDI/HIPAA in R2 in some depth.  If you're interested in this topic and can't get to an event where I'm speaking, this is a nice alternative.

I've written about Model View Presenter (MVP) several times before, once after hearing a talk and learning about the pattern, and again when I learned about extension methods.

Today I bring you a screencast on Model View Presenter using Visual Studio 2008 and extension methods.  This is my second screencast, and I've upgraded my microphone to a professional rig thanks to my father to improve the audio.

Click here to watch the screencast.

Whenever a bunch of Microsoft-type geeks gather to have fun, Chris Koenig is sure to pull out some XBox 360s and games for folks to enjoy.  Dallas .NET User Group's Casino Night was no exception.  The difference was that in this case the game of the night was Rockband, and Chris could hardly be pulled away from the game to receive the recognition the group gave him for being such a great Developer Evangelist and User Group supporter.  In tribute to this, I give you a montage of Chris playing Rockband, set to Jonathan Coulton's wonderful Code Monkey.

I love the Dallas/Fort Worth developer community, I've got friends who work for all sorts of companies around the metroplex.  Of course, as a consultant myself some of the best and brightest in the area unfortunately work for other firms.  Two of the biggest hoarders of .NET Talent in D/FW are Improving Enterprises and of course, Telligent.  As you all know I'm a little passionate about the We Are Microsoft event, so I decided to take some time after the InstallFest the other day and call out Improving Enterprises and Telligent on camera, this is what ensued.

So you've heard it, both Improving Enterprises and Telligent will be there.  If your a Telligent employee and interested, I'd suggest contacting Jay Leask and if you're an Improving Enterprises employee I suggest Caleb Jenkins.

Many thanks to Cory Smith and Dave O'Hara for working the camera for me so I could call people out properly on camera myself.

As I've mentioned before, there is a big event coming up in January that has developers donating their time to benefit local charities.  The event is called We Are Microsoft and is put on by Microsoft (care of Chris Koenig) and is being run by Toi Wright.  I had a chance to catch up with Toi at the Visual Studio 2008 InstallFest last night, and ask her about the event.  Here is that chat.

I've spent this week in Minneapolis at some BizTalk training and while I was there had a chance to sit down with Delbert and talk about the Microsoft Certified Architect program, I think you'll learn something about the program I know I did.

image I've spent a lot of time this summer traveling to various events and presenting my talk "Introduction to C# 3.0" to people throughout the South Central area of the United States.  Well, it pains me to say I'm but one man, and there are way way way way to many of you to reach through this manual process.  Fortunately for me, there are technological solutions to this problem : The Internet!

I've spent some time today recording my first of what I hope to be several webcasts.  These webcasts are made possible through the generation gift of a Camtasia license from TechSmith.  I've been a fan of Camtasia for many years, and the latest versions are a joy to work with.

All of that said, following this link to the Land of Oz and an Introduction to C# 3.0.

Last night at the HALO3 launch party at the Microsoft Campus in Las Colinas, I decided to have some fun at the expense of my good friend Caleb Jenkins, host of CommunityCast.tv. Below are the fruits of an evening of shooting video.  My thanks to all those who contributed, and especially Caleb.  All I have to say is "That's Awesome!".
